I studied in the universities of Christian-Albrechts Universität (University of Kiel), Kiel and Ruprecht-Karls Universität (University of Heidelberg), Heidelberg in Germany. I concluded my studies with the award of Dr.rer.nat (PhD) degree in 1982 from Heidelberg.

I started my academic career as a Research Assistant in the Institute of Medical Microbiology, University of Kiel, Germany in 1979. I was a Research Fellow in the Institute of Hygiene and Medical Microbiology, Ruprecht-Karls University, Heidelberg, from June 1980 to Ocotber, 1982. I received further training in the laboratories of laboratories of Bayer AG, Leverkusen and Hoechst AG, Frankfurt.

Academic and Professional Achievements

My research activities which attracted some scholarly research funding and international collaborations have been in the major Microbiology sub-disciplines of (i) Pharmaceutical Microbiology; specifically, effect of national medical and folklore plants on pathogenic bacteria, fungi and viruses (ii) Environmental/Public Health Microbiology and (iii) Medical Microbiology. I have supervised many Masters and Doctorate research students including Dr. (Mrs.) Japhet, the Principal Investigator, Overall, my research activities have culminated into over 120 scholarly publications, comprising 1 co-authored book; 119 Journal Publications; 1 Conference Proceeding, and 2 Technical Reports. I also have a number of invited unpublished papers.

I have been involved in academic, administrative establishment and management of four universities in Nigeria where I occupied various positions including Head of Academic Unit, Coordinator of Departments, Acting Head of Department and Head, Department of Microbiology; Dean, Faculty of Science, Director of academic Programme (Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti), pioneer Provost of College at Osun State University, Osogbo, Member of Council of four different institutions, Vice President of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology and pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Kings University, Odeomu. I received several academic distinctions and awards.
