Dr Japhet has expertise in molecular techniques for viral studies. Her area of research interest is immunology and molecular study of viral infections with viral studies on HIV, diarrhoea viruses in children and Hepatitis B virus which induces carcinoma. Her current research focus is on the development of nanoparticle based viral diagnosis kit for prompt diagnosis of viral infections in children. She has strong interest in early diagnosis and prevention of transmission of viral infections.

She is currently working on the development of nanoparticlebased rotavirus diagnostic kits for early diagnosis and proper management of viral diarrhoea in children with funding from European and Developing Countries Clinical Trial Partnership (EDCTP). With collaborators from India and Japan, she is also working on “A priori Characterization of Cancer (Lunch syndrome and Hepatocellular carcinoma by Hepatitis B and C viruses) via the Probing of Ultra-rare Somatic Genomic Aberration Events” funded by the Japanese AMED (Agency for Medical Research and Development) Grant for three Team in the Interstellar Initiatives for the world’s most promising Early Career Investigators to address challenges in the area of Health Longevity.
